A short trip to Ipoh

Last Saturday, I travelled back to my hometown Ipoh to attend my cousin brother’s wedding. My sister’s family, my parents, my brother’s family, my hubby and I and also Dillon are travelling together in 2 cars, and this is really a big family trip that doesn’t happen often.

We stayed in Hillcity, the 4-rooms condominium, for RM440.00 per night (we stayed for 2 nights), I think the price is a bit steep for what it has to offer, but anyway, the unit is clean and it’s good for family stay. But the food in the coffee house is definitely not ok, everything is so salty and service is slow as well so stay away from the food here.

The wedding dinner is on Sunday night and it was held in Public Chinese Restaurant in Ipoh town and I must compliment that the food served is anytime better than the food I had at KL’s wedding dinner, not to mention that the price was also at a slash. I especially like the yummilicious Fish Lips soup, the fresh Tualang prawns and steamed Pomfret that is at its perfection. Aside from the food, we also had the chance to meet with many relatives and cousins that we have not seen for long time, we had some good chats and good laugh throughout the dinner.

The next day after we checked out from the condominium, we went for breakfast at a coffee shop in Ipoh town, of course no other than the famous Ipoh Hor Fun and Taugeh, Popiah, Cuttlefish with Kangkung and Curry Chee Cheong Fun, everything taste good and cheap too.

After breakfast, we went to visit Sam Poh Temple, and also the nearby Guan Yin Temple. Dillon enjoyed running around freely on the spacious ground and got fascinated by the Buddha and GuanYin statues. Besides, he also enjoyed feeding the fishes and turtles in the ponds. As for hubby, he took lots of nice pictures also.

We reached home after dinner, at about 8.00pm last night and I feel really tired because after I unpacked the luggage this time, I am going to pack my luggage again tonight as I’ll be leaving for Kaohsiung, Taiwan on business trip on tomorrow (Wed) morning and will be back on Friday. I shall share more about the trip later, stay tuned.

Caribbean cruises

I love travelling but I have not been to a cruise before because it’s expensive to me. If I have enough fund one day, I would consider going on the Caribbean cruises. It is the one that I have always wanted to go to for a totally different experience. I would love to see the exotic ports and beaches, duty free shopping and just enjoy the slow and relaxing pace at the sea.

New bed

My mother has had this backache problem for years and she can hardly sleep through the night. My siblings and I are planning to share the cost to get her a new bed, it could either be a sleep number bed or comfort air bed, we don’t know yet as we need to do some research and comparison on price, comfort and many other things before placing an order.

PS3

My nephew’s birthday is coming soon and I still haven’t got a present for him. My sister and I were thinking to buy him a PS3 that he has always wanted, since he has achieved good results in the last UPSR exam. But of course my sister will have to set out rules so that my nephew doesn’t indulge too much in playing games, otherwise it is going to jeopardize his study.

Diet pills

I feel lucky that I did not put on much weight even after delivering 2 kids, perhaps because my metabolic rate is high and hence I don’t have to go on diet to maintain my weight. However, if one day I have massive weight gain, I might consider looking out for the best diet pills that works effectively with no side effects to help me lose weight.

Our Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year has come to an end and I have been busy with the kids (coz 2 maids are taking turns on break), visiting to relatives at Rawang on the 2nd day of CNY, and then meeting my parents and siblings for dinner on the 7th day, and then a round trip visiting a hubby’s ex-classmates on last Sunday; other than that most of the time we were at home with friends and relatives visiting us, and we do play cards and mahjong at night when Dillon and Kaith has gone to sleep.

So that’s basically how I have spent my 15 days of CNY. Yesterday the 15th Chap Goh Mei, was also hubby’s birthday so we had “Yee Sang” and Steamboat at home, a simple celebration for 2 occasions.

And of course, I can’t wait to show you all the picture of Dillon and Kaith in their Chinese New Year costume, tadaaa…… (not very good pictures as they were taken by me with my digital camera)

Trip arrangement

When I go travelling, I like to arrange everything all by myself and I rely a lot on Internet to do the necessary bookings. As I’m always budget concern, I don’t opt for luxury hotel rooms during my trip, instead I will go for the economic hotels, as long the rooms are clean and the location is safe and strategic. I’d rather save the money for my food and shopping for souvenirs.

Gift to hubby

Valentine’s day is around the corner, and normally my husband and I don’t exchange gift. But this year, I thought of giving him a surprise. Since he is going to start a new job soon, the most practical gift I think would be a nice pen. I can now go online and shop for promotional pens at really good price and save my time for shopping too.
