Following “My Beautiful Myanmar” charity project for the Kachin refugee kids that I’ve posted in this blog long time ago, recently a few of the volunteer teachers at the refugee schools have started a non-profit group called HeArt (as in “heart”).
The idea is to produce marketable items using artwork from the refugee students to raise funds for their schools. All proceeds will go towards helping support their education. For these kids education is not a birth right but a privilege and they truly enjoy being able to go to the refugee schools here.
I’m excited to share with you that the first HeArt project with a black and white theme is recently launched. All items are made using original artwork from the students aged between 3-16 years old! I must say that I am touched by the effort and initiatives they have put in to help themselves.
The following items are available for sale:

A) 2010 Year of the Tiger CD Calendars (with Malaysian public & school holidays and inspirational quotes) – RM15 each
B) Angel Christmas Card Pack – Set of 6 designs (Blank 5 x 7 inches with white envelopes)
– RM12 per pack
C) Christmas Gift Wrap & Gift card Set – RM6 per set
D) Small Angel Gift Card (Blank) – RM2 each
E) Handmade Clay Christmas Decoration (only 70 pieces made) – RM15 each (3 designs)
F) Handmade Clay Medallions with photo of artist behind (260 pieces only) – RM20 each
G) Jungle Card Pack – set of 6 designs (Blank 5 x 7 inches with white envelopes) – RM12 per pack
Company logo and details can be printed on back of calendar and cards for an additional RM80 per logo (max. 2 colors). All items come in beautiful handmade packaging.
I personally think they are practical and make great Christmas gifts too. If you think it’s too plain, be creative and put some colour on it to make it more personalized. Do it together with your kids & it will be a meaningful activity for your kids during this school holidays and a good bonding session as well.
If you would like to purchase any of these items to help this meaningful project, please leave your comment and contact here or email me at yiaukaren@gmail.com. Payments can be made to my Maybank or RHB bank account and also PayPal. I will post the items to you by pos laju or registered mail, postage should be borne by you. COD can also be arranged.
I’m also looking for help to sell these items on consignment. Right now the group is marketing them through word of mouth and selling them at various bazaars. Bulk orders from companies or groups would be excellent!
I still have copies of My Beautiful Myanmar (RM15 each) which make great Christmas gifts too, for those who have missed it the last time I posted about it, or those who wants to purchase again for a good cause, please contact me as well.
Thanks so much for your continued support and please help to spread the word around. (To Bloggers: please help to put a short post & link to this, you may use the entire content in your post if you don’t have time to write, let me know & I’ll email to you.)
Thanks and God bless everyone……
This is really backdated.
It was Dillon’s school concert day earlier this month on 1st November (Sunday), hubby and I brought Kaith along to witness our little boy perform on stage for the first time.
Dillon was in a Ben10 boy set, and from the notice I received, I’m supposed to put “heavy make-up” on him but I didn’t, firstly because I don’t like it and most importantly I myself didn’t even have any eye shadows or blusher to do the make-up, so I just let it be.
Before the concert starts, there were a few cute girls gathered at the entrance, waving hands to Dillon and calling his name. These girls are so sweet and I asked hubby to snap a picture of them with Dillon. However Dillon was very shy and that’s why his pose was so kaku and he couldnt’ smile. …LOL
Dillon was performing the “Pom Pom Dance” which was the 7th programon the itinerary. This was him during the performance, he did enjoy the dance and he was doing quite well.
But I really don’t like the heavy make-up that the teachers put on him, it makes my son looks funny loh, but every kid has to put on make-up, so that they are more photogenic and look better when in video? But if I have a choice, I still don’t like the make-up on my boy, girl I think is still fine.
After his performance, we took some more photos with his classmates. This is Ka Wai, his buddy and enemy in class, I’m saying that bcause they are the only 2 that always fight for things and argue in the class, but they also always want to stick to each other, even teacher separated them every time. What a love-and-hate relationship, hahaha LOL.
Another photo was taken with his girl classmate Khai Ling (actually only 2 girls in his class). Again, Dillon was very shy and he started biting his lips when we asked him to smile…… Poor thing, Dillon look so short when standing next to Khai Ling and I really wish that he will grow taller in the future.
Well amongst all the photos we took, my favourite is still this picture of Dillon and Kaith, they are now getting more cooperative in posing for photos.
After I stopped going for gym, I already feel the extra pounds getting on me and I told myself to control on my diet. But I just had Carl’s Junior combo for lunch and tonight I’ll be going for buffet dinner with husband. Then this coming Saturday will be buffet lunch again. I can’t go on like this anymore, I must start on my weight loss diet soon before I grow from a size M to size L.
My cousin is moving to his new condominium end of the year and he is now busy looking for furniture and electrical appliances for his new home. As he likes watching TV, especially football matches, he has decided to buy himself the plasma tvs for comfort viewing. He has even already planned to invite all his guy friends to come and stay over his place during the world cup month next year and watch the matches together.
I still remember when we visited our uncle who is staying in US last year, he took us on a road trip but unfortunately, his car broke down half way and we were so panic at that time. Luckily my uncle has bought the mechanical breakdown insurance plan, and he just have to call a toll-free number, then everything gets handled and settled by the insurance company. Is there any company in Malaysia that offers the similar plan for the car owners?
I know Facebook has been really popular but I seldom have time to log on to it, whenever I have free time, I’d normally spend it on blogging.
One of the reasons that I started writing blog is because of my children, I hope when they grow up one day, they will be able to read these stories I wrote about them in my blog.
Apart from blogging, we can also choose to keep our precious stories, letters or messages, photos and even videos in a personal page created at My Heart Will. We can create dedicated folders to different persons and store the content we wish to deliver instantly, or in the future, even after we are gone. Find out more about My Heart Will service and you’ll be touched by what it can do and mean for you.
I have been working in the current company for more than 5 years, and in last year, the company has rewarded a gold pendant to each of the staff who has worked 5 years with the company.
Actually to be frank, I’d prefer the company to buy gold coin for us instead of pendant as I think it has a greater value, looks nicer and better as a keepsake.
The next one in line would be the 8 years service award and hopefully by that time, the company will consider to buy gold bullion as a reward to the loyal staff and of course, I hope I’d still be working with this company then.
I was really surprised when I saw my 60 years old aunty on her daughter’s wedding last week. I have not seen this aunty for many years but now she looks even younger than before.
Then I heard from my mother that this aunty of mine has gone for los angeles botox treatment months ago. Even her daughter has gone along with her to do the acne laser removal as she wanted to look the best on her wedding day. I must say that they both do look stunning on the wedding.
Well, I guess if you have the money and are willing to spend, you can go to Celibre and look as young and as pretty as you want.
On our way back from office last Friday evening, we received a call that said hubby’s grandma had passed away. So last weekend we had been busy with the funeral.
Grandma didn’t really suffer from any sickness all this while. On the previous Monday morning, we couldn’t wake her up and we admitted her to the hospital the next day. Then on Friday, we decided to bring her home and 2 hours after she was discharged, she died peacefully on her own bed at home. I guess it was the best way to leave this world for an elderly….
I have been staying with grandma ever since I moved in to the family, at that time, grandma already had Alzheimer and it had gone from bad to worst. Although it feels sad that we have lost one of the family members but on the other hand, I’m happy for her because it’s a relief for her, finally…..
Grandma, may your soul rest in peace.
Like most of the guys out there, my husband doesn’t like to shop for clothes as he thinks it’s too much hassle to choose for the right outfit and trying on them, so normally I’m the one who is buying his outfit.
As year end festive season is approaching, I’m already checking out on ShopWiki for the new collection of men’s collared shirts where he needs to wear to work on daily basis, and for some formal occasions too.
Besides, since we will be going to Bali in February next year, I think it’s time to shop for some beachwear for him and of course, I would buy a new bikini for myself too.
There are many people getting married towards year end as usual and this year, I have received 4 wedding invitations in December alone. One of them were my college mate and she will be going on cancun vacations for the honeymoon, I heard that is a beautiful place and hopefully one day, I will get to travel there too.
I have not been able to post in the past one week, there are too many things happening ……
Firstly, my sinus got worst. All this while I was just having nose allergy, not really sinusitis (i.e nose infection) but maybe due to my flu and coughing last 2 weeks, it further developed into sinusitis.
So I have to go to see Dr. Vivian again (the same ENT doctor whom Dillon was seeing) because I have been suffering from bad headache, pain in my ears, nasal passage and cheek bones in the past few days, all these are part of sinusitis. There has been postnasal drip into my throat too (it feels so yucky!) which makes me cough, and I couldn’t sleep well. Now I have to be on antibiotic and nasal drops to control the condition, and I was also given 2 days MC.
However, I didn’t really get to rest as I wished, as another bad incident happened. My husband’s grandma, who has been staying with my in-laws and us all these year was admitted to hospital, so my mother-in-law was busy running in and out the hospital, leaving me to look after the kids, although there’s still a maid to help out a bit but I didn’t really get to rest much.
The only good thing is that, both Dillon and Kaith has fully recovered from coughing and flu.
